What does “squidrangle” mean?
Quite simply, a triangle made out of squid. I was struck by this image one day while studying for a math final.
Who writes Squidrangle?
I do! I go by DrakeRedcrest when I’m online. I’m in my early 20s, and I live in Canada. I share my life with three dogs: a terrier mix, a pug mix, and a staffie mix.
What do you do?
I’m currently a university student. My goal is to become a veterinarian, specializing in oncology and/or small animal surgery. I have wanted to be a vet since I was about three years old, and though my reasons for it have changed over time, I (and everyone around me!) have always known what I was going to do.
How long have you been vegan?
I became vegan in 2009, after being vegetarian since 2001.
How did you get into makeup?
In 2006, I stumbled across the promo image for MAC’s Aquadisiac collection, and it struck a chord with me. I didn’t wear much makeup at the time, only foundation, eyeliner and mascara. Seeing that picture made me look at makeup more as an art, as opposed to something meant to cover up “imperfections.” My interest in nail polish sprang up in January 2009, when I saw swatches of the China Glaze Summer Days collection and fell in love. It remains one of my favorite nail polish collections of all time.
Other than makeup, what are your interests?
I play a lot of video games; some of my favorites are Okami (and Okamiden), the Shin Megami Tensei series, and the Katamari series. I like tattoos, and have several. I play the guitar, and am interested in buying and learning to play the piano. I also enjoy cooking and baking (vegan, obviously!), as well as crocheting.
What are your favorite TV shows?
My top three are Fringe, Pushing Daisies, and Veronica Mars.
What music do you listen to?
I will give most things a chance, but some of my favorites are Joss Stone, the Beatles, Rancid, Adele, Drake, Lil’ Wayne, and Lily Allen. As you can see, I like quite a range.
